Kenneth Allen Cooper, 76, of North Street, Norfolk, died in his home November 6, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Lynette (Hamilton) Cooper, who he married on March 11, 1957.
Born in Norwood on April 16, 1936, he was a son of the late George and Hazel (Snow) Cooper. He was a graduate of Norwood High School and had served his country in the United States Air Force.
Ken moved to Norfolk in 1966 where he and his wife Lynette raised their family and he worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Town. He has been a Special Police Officer in Norfolk, was a volunteer on the Fire Department, and served six years with the Town Recreation Department. He enjoyed managing and coaching the Federated Falcons CYO Basketball team. The team under his coaching brought home two back to back Championships. He was an avid sports fan, and loved both the Patriots and the Celtics.
Ken had a host of friendships, and it has been said “if he gave you a hard time it meant he loved you”.
He is also survived by loving daughters Sherry and her husband Gregg Sullivan of Norwood, and Deanna and her husband Stephen Binda of Orlando, Fl, and was father of the late Kenneth A. Cooper, Jr. He was the dear brother of Ruthie O’Callahan and her husband Dan of Norwood, and of the late George Cooper, Robert Cooper, Richard “Dickie” Cooper, Muriel Loring and Jackie Russell.
His Memorial Service will be on Thursday November 15, 2012 at 11 AM in the Norfolk Federated Church, 1 Union Street, Norfolk. Burial will follow in the Norfolk Cemetery.
