Congressman Joe Kennedy announced that his office will begin accepting submissions for the Congressional Art Competition – a nationwide high school visual arts competition. Additionally the Congressman announced the formation of an independent panel of artists and artistic professionals from across the 4th District who will select the winning submissions.
“The Congressional Art Competition is a fantastic opportunity for students across the 4th District to showcase their artistic talent,” said Kennedy. “We are lucky to have a very accomplished group of local arts professionals serve as panelists for the competition.”
Students from across the district are encouraged to submit original artwork in the following categories: paintings, drawings, collage, prints, mixed media, computer-generated art and photography. The Congressman’s independent arts panel will select a finalist in each category. From those finalists, they will select one “Best in Show” piece, which will be sent down to Washington, DC where it will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for the next year. The remaining finalists will have their artwork displayed in the Congressman’s district offices.
