Senator Richard Ross is spreading the world that Citizens Bank will be offering the TruFit Good Citizen Scholarship program for the third year. Citizens Bank will award 40 college scholarships totaling $50,000 to students who exhibit good citizenship through community volunteerism and leadership.
“The Citizens Bank TruFit Good Citizen Scholarship program is an excellent opportunity for students to supplement the high costs of college tuition during a difficult economic climate,” said Ross. “At the same time, I hope that younger students view this program as encouragement to become involved in their communities through service and volunteerism.”
The program is open to US residents, aged 16 and older, who are attending or accepted to a federally accredited four-year college, university or graduate program and who have been active in community service. Applicants must submit an essay of no more than 250 words or a video up to 60 seconds long describing their community volunteerism and leadership. They are also required to provide two references that are directly connected to their community involvement.
The application period for the program will start on Monday, April 1 and end on Friday, April 19 or until 3,000 applications have been received, whichever occurs first. Scholarships will be awarded during the summer for the 2013-2014 academic year.
