Wrentham's Jake Layman was selected 47th in the 2016 NBA draft and will soon become a Portland Trail Blazer. The Western Conference team acquired his rights after the Orlando Magic selected him in the draft. The Blazers exchanged a future second round and cash consideration.
In a statement from the Trail Blazers, the team's head of basketball operations Neil Olshey said, “Jake is a high character young man with a skill set we value on both ends of the floor. His ability to defend multiple positions and shoot the ball from range will be positive additions to our roster.”
Layman was a star basketball player for King Philip Regional High School and a four-year player out of the University of Maryland. To learn more about Layman and his pursuit of an NBA career read, "Layman Waiting for Draft Day".
