Antiques Night Returns

"Antiques Night," sponsored by the Norfolk Council on Aging and the Friends of the Norfolk Council on Aging, will be held once again on Friday, May 31st from 4 p. m. to 8 p. m. at the Norfolk Senior Center located at 28 Medway Branch Road, Norfolk, MA 02056.

Bob Graboski of Kingsbury Antiques, who has over 40 years experience in antiques appraisal, will conduct his highly informative and entertaining version of PBS's "Antiques Road Show." Participants (observers are also welcome to attend this popular event) will be charged a fee of $5.00 for appraisals limited to two items. Sorry, no stamps, coins, (unless gold), paintings, sports trading cards, heavy furniture, stuffed chairs, or bureaus.

The rule of thumb is if one person can carry it in, it should be okay to bring. Mark your calendar for this popular event, especially if you have a precious item you have always wondered about, but missed the previous "Antiques Night" at the Center. Refreshments will be served. The Senior Center is open Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Walk of Tears

Franklin and King Philip's Annual Walk of Tears will take place at King Philip Regional High School onSunday, May 19. The event is in loving memory of Maura Howard, a graduate of King Philip High School and Amy Callaghan of Franklin High School, both victims of drunk driving.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with an 11 a.m.start in front of the main entrance. There is a minimum donation of $20 and t-shirts are available first come, first serve. All proceeds will fund SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) scholarships at both King Philip and Franklin High Schools.

The walk is approximately three miles and refreshments and water will be available. The event will take place rain or shine.

Towns Come Together for Boston Tonight

Tonight, Plainville, Norfolk and Wrentham will come together for a Run/Walk Boston Strong Tribute Event. The community gathering is set for 6 p.m. at King Philip Regional High School track and will also serve as a fundraiser for The One Fund. 

The One Fund was launched by Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Boston Mayor Tom Menino to help the people most affected by the tragic events that occurred in Boston on April 15, 2013. Over $28 million has been raised to date. The suggested donation is $10 per family.

Spring Fling Shopping Night

Nearly New Sale

This Saturday is the Nearly New Sale. The Norfolk Community League is in urgent need for your used toys, kid's and baby furniture, sporting equipment and more. Only ONE drop-off time for donations remains. THIS Wednesday May 1st from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., please drop off donations at the DPW building, located on Medway Branch Rd. Please be sure that all donations are in excellent condition, clean and have all parts included and securely attached. Please note, we are not accepting clothing donations. Boston Strong Tribute Event

On Sunday, May 5, 6 to 7:30 P.M. at King Philip High School Track the community is invited to take part in a Boston Strong Tribute Event. The Run/walk rally will show support for the victims of the Boston marathon, and to honor first responders and other law enforcement. All are welcome especially residents from Norfolk, Plainville and Wrentham. 

Let's show we are truly Boston Strong!

$10 suggested donation per family for OneFundBoston.org, which provides funds to aid victims through recovery process.

Plant Sale at Federated Church of Norfolk

The Federated Church of Norfolk will hold a Plant Sale on Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to noon at the church which is located in the center of Norfolk at the corner of route 115 and Main Street.  A variety of perennial plants will be available at good prices. The sale will be held outside the same day as the church’s May Pancake Breakfast. Come and enjoy breakfast and then choose a few plants for your garden. 

Easter Egg Hunt Set for Saturday if Snow is Gone

Norfolk Recreation says the Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for this Saturday and it will take place as long as the snow is gone or mostly gone. There can still be snow piles, but if there is snow cover, it will be postpone until the following Saturday, March 30.

Tentative Date Set for Candidates' Night

The Norfolk Community League is sponsoring its annual Candidates' Night. Tentatively, scheduled for Tuesday, April 23 at the King Philip Junior High School auditorium. Candidates for town-wide office will be available to meet the public and participate in a Q&A forum. Norfolk’s 4th Annual Clean & Green Campaign – April 6th

On Saturday, April 6th, the Norfolk Grange #135 will celebrate Earth Day by sponsoring Norfolk’s 4th Annual Clean and Green Campaign. All citizens are encouraged all citizens, especially the youth, to participate in a town-wide cleanup of litter along roadsides and public places in Norfolk.  Plan to cleanup an area you select the morning/early afternoon of April 6. Drop off litter and recyclables between 12 – 4 p.m. at the Norfolk Grange, 28 Rockwood Rd.  Join the celebration with refreshments, community photos, cute giveaways and lots of green/Earth Day info.  Volunteer Certificates will be awarded upon request.
