On April 24, 2012 at about 7:45 p.m. Wrentham Police received a 911 call from143 Shears Street reporting a domestic disturbance and stabbing in progress with the suspect still on scene.
When officers arrived, 17 year old suspect of the same address immediately surrendered and was taken into custody by Officer Halloway. The victim, Christopher Cornell, same address, age 33, boyfriend of the suspect’s mother, was found on the front lawn bleeding profusely with a slash to his hand. He was treated by Sgt. Smith until Wrentham Fire Rescue responded. Wrentham Officer Coliflores and Norfolk Police officers also responded to the scene.
According to the Wrentham Police, the investigation revealed an argument between the suspect and his mother escalated out of control at which time the suspect allegedly assaulted his mother with an air soft rifle. The mother’s boyfriend, Christopher Cornell, intervened at which point the altercation shifted to a physical struggle between Cornell and the suspect. During the struggle, the suspect allegedly grabbed a razor blade and slashed Cornell across his hand causing a severe injury. The victim was transported by Wrentham Fire Rescue to a Boston Hospital.
The suspect was transported to Wrentham Police Headquarters for booking and will be arraigned on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. No bail has been set. The suspect is charged with two counts of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon. The incident is under investigations by Det. Lt. McGrath.
