In March 2012, the Wrentham Board of Selectmen established a Town Government Study Committee (TGSC). The TGSC, consisting of seven Wrentham residents, is charged to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the Town’s organizational structure and management systems and report back to the BOS with any recommendations. The TGSC’s target for reporting back to the BOS with finalized recommendations is spring 2013, in time for the June Annual Town Meeting.
The TGSC is currently engaged in two parallel efforts to collect data necessary for the analysis. For the past two months it has conducted a series of interviews in open meeting with Wrentham’s boards, committees and departments. These interviews seek to identify issues and solutions associated with organizational structure and management systems, as well as to identify what works well. The second effort is to conduct a citizen survey in order to seek the public’s input as it relates to topics such as services, organization, and communication.
The citizen survey will be conducted from November 1 to November 16. The survey will be mailed to all Wrentham residences. Once completed, citizens can return their survey by placing it in drop off boxes that will be located at four locations: Town Hall, the Senior Center, The Fiske Public Library, or the Sheldonville Post Office. Alternatively, citizens can complete their survey on line. Instructions and the on line address will be provided with the survey they receive in the mail.
In the November to January timeframe, the TGSC will analyze the input from the town interviews and citizen survey, and develop an initial draft report. In January the draft report will be presented to elected officials and then in February it will be presented to residents at a public meeting.
Additional information about the TGSC can be found on Wrentham’s web site at http://wrentham.ma.us/ wrentham-ma-board-of-selectmen/tgsc. Or citizens can contact the Chair of the TGSC, Jerry McGovern, at 508-883-3947.
