A cafeteria worker at King Philip Middle School was arrested Friday night for allegedly threating another co-worker at the school. On Friday afternoon, officials from the middle school contacted Norfolk Police regarding an alleged threat to one of its employees. According to Norfolk Police, an arrest warrant was obtained charging Wendy Ferris, age 46, from 117 Burnt Swamp Rd, Cumberland, RI, with one count of threatening to commit a crime. The alleged incident involved a threat with a firearm.
School officials say Ferris is out on administrative leave pending investigation of the incident.
On Monday morning, King Philip School System sent an email to parents informing them of the situation. The email said, "Please be aware that the police department is investigating a situation that does involve one of our middle school cafeteria workers. This individual was placed immediately on leave until further notice."
