Four members of the boys King Philip Indoor Track team broke a 15-year old school record. Senior Mike Roby, and juniors, Dylan Casassa, Mark Kahaly and Sean Garrity (pictured left to right), took to Reggie Lewis Track, Boston, on January 16 competing in the Division 2 Relays. The four KP athletes comprised a 4 x 50 meter relay team, and ran a 22.64 seconds race, beating the school's record of 22.78 second. The foursome came in first, beating teams from 34 other schools including Medford, Beverly, and Somerville.
According to head coach Scott Kramer, the race was the highlight of a great relay meet that included many personal records and impressive team performances. The KP girls had three teams placing with sixth place finishes in the spring medley, 4 x 400 meter and shot put. In addition to the first place finish in the 4 x50, the boys earned a fifth place finish in the 4x200 and 3rd in shot put.
The school record for the 4x50 was previous held by Andy Croteau, Matt Sanchez, Ken Tellum and John Phillips and was set in 2001.
