The FOX25 Morning News team will make a visit to Plainville this summer stopping in the town as part of its annual Zip Trip programs. Each summer for the past nine years, the show broadcasts live from a different Massachusetts town each Friday. This year, FOX25 Morning News Co-host Shannon Mulaire, News commentator Doug “VB” Goudie, and Meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz are scheduled to visit the town on July 27th, broadcasting live from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The news that FOX25 is heading to Plainville has Selectman Robert Fennessy smiling. “I'm excited that Fox 25 chose Plainville this year,” he said. “I often watch the Zip Trips, and knew at some point they would come down here for a show.”
Fennessy thinks Plainville was selected because the town has been in the headlines for its Racino/Slot Parlor application. The Zip Trip shows traditionally feature segments on local eateries, sport programs, and town trivia. The show often features a local hero and a look at what makes a community a good place to live. “Plainville has a lot to show the rest of the Greater Boston area,” Fennessy says. “We have great horse and riding stables and conservation areas. Plainville has one of only two horse racing tracks in the Commonwealth, that being Plainridge; and through good planning, Plainville has maintained a rural charm.”
Other aspects to the community, Fennessy says, really highlight the quality of life in Plainville include the strong schools in the area including two relatively new elementary schools, the King Philip Regional System and several private schools, such as the Montessori, Hillcrest Academy, and several private pre-schools. Fennessy also touts the quality of Plainville’s youth baseball and softball leagues, athletic facilities including the Plainville Athletic League “Field of Dreams”, the public and private swimming pools and two highly regarded golf courses, Heather Hill and Wentworth Hills. “Along with several great restaurants, Plainville has a lot to offer and show to others,” he said. “We are looking forward to getting this well-kept secret out to others, who may want to visit or move into the community.”
The community is invited to watch the show as it broadcasts lives. Typically, the show is held in a public park. The exact location of the Plainville Zip Trip hasn’t been announced yet.
